I use approximately the following scoring system for trade offers on the League of Impatient Cave Cleaners:

Score break-down

Starting score: 7

Offer

1. +1 for every caveblocker species hatchling offered
2. +0.5 for every other hatchling offered (unless it’s so rare that I decline the offer)
3. +0 for every egg offered (unless I’m egg-locked, in which case it’s a decline)

Trophies

For rares:

1. +0 for no trophy
2. +1 for a bronze trophy
3. -1 for a silver trophy
4. -2 for a gold trophy

For non-rare caveborns:

1. +1 for no trophy
2. +0 for a bronze trophy
3. -1 for a silver trophy
4. -2 for a gold trophy

Visibility

1. -2 if adults / frozen hatchlings on scroll are not visible
2. -2 if eggs / hatchlings on scroll are not visible
3. -7 if scroll is entirely inaccessible (no trophy visible; does not stack with other implicit scores)

Uniqueness

1. -1 if you already have a dragon of the species I’m offering
2. -1 if any of those dragons are equally clean or cleaner in lineage than my offer

Examples:

• Bronze-trophy scroll (+1) with no silver offering 1 caveblocker hatchling (+1) on a 2G silver: 7 + 2 = 9
• Silver-trophy scroll (-1) with CB silver (-2) offering 4 caveblocker hatchlings (+4) on a 2G silver: 7 – 3 + 4 = 8
• Gold-trophy scroll (-2) with CB silver (-2) and hidden eggs/hatchlings (-1) offering 4 non-caveblocker hatchlings (+2) on a 2G silver: 7 – 5 + 2 = 4
• Invisible scroll (-7) offering only eggs: 7 – 7 = 0

Only the relative score is important (i.e. no score is declined on principle; though the maximum possible score (12) is auto), but once I have more than two offers I start declining those that score lowest, to save everyone time. <3

How does your offer score?

For regular trades, I prioritise offers I get as follows:

1. Offers that match what I am asking for. That means that if I’m asking for caveblockers and I have a caveblocker and a rare offer, I will favour the caveblocker, not the rare.
2. Items from my wishlist
3. Things I know are valuable enough to trade for something else on my wishlist (such as CB pinks), e.g. most unbreedables.
4. Sprites I love
5. Sprites I like a lot
6. Sprites I like

For League trades, I use a rough scoring system.

So now that I’ve offered on your trade…

Sometimes I go through the trade section and offer what I call ‘back-up trades’ on ‘hatchling didn’t gender right’s or ‘got the wrong type of nebula’s, etc; ungendered hatchlings or eggs.

Please don’t take offence to this, I don’t do it chiefly because I want your hatchling, I do it because the gender/type of mine doesn’t matter to me and I know how difficult life can be trying to get the other gender/type. In other words:

I don’t expect you to accept my offer except as a fall-back. A fall-back is all it’s for.

Gifts

As a cold-hearted, evil anarcho-capitalist, I don’t believe in gifts. ;) That means: If you gift me something, expect to get something in return.

It’s really important to me that my subjective debt is repaid (even if you feel I owe you nothing) – so please don’t forbid it. If you really want to dissuade me from getting you something insane in return, the best way you can do so is by requesting a couple of caveblocker hatchlings. :) I’ll accept that and happily run that errand.

Hi! I’m a lot of things, like anyone tends to be, but the relevant parts for Dragon Cave are:

1. I host Daily Dragon Fix. I did this for emmilely for a while, but she’s been absent so long that I can’t really claim to be her hands any more. I still help administrate the site it when I have time and maintain the code whenever something needs fixing or a new feature is requested.
2. For a while, back before it was closed for a while (and in that time, shortly before it was littleblackdog’s (<3)), I was considered the main moderator of the Rare Trading Center. I continued to host its corresponding moderator forum where everything was documented for a while. The forum was temporarily in use by the current Rare Trading Bazaar moderators (although not as actively as back in the RTC days) until they abandoned their project.
3. I made a script showing Lunar Herald colours and Fire Gem colours
4. I’ve made the League of Impatient Cave Cleaners (not much of an achievement, but the notion it expresses is still close to my heart!).
5. When dimorphism came out, I ran a thread collecting the new sprites in overview (sadly due to forum policies at the time the thread was closed after a few days, but a lot of work was poured into it).
6. I’m delighted that I can say that to date, I’ve fulfilled all my IOUs (and for any still ongoing, not dropped the ball) and added gratitude-gifts to those who’ve had to wait – I recognise time is a good like any other and I decidedly don’t like wasting yours.
7. I’m a great fan of lineaged unbreedables and made a thread for them in Site Discussion
8. I also occasionally try to keep track of turpentine breed results.
9. I’m curious as to when and by what criteria other people rename their dragons.
